Musui | Removing stuck-on rice

If cooked rice is not immediately transferred out of the pot, the grains will harden and stick. To easily remove stuck-on rice, follow either of the methods below.

Recommended method:

1. Fill the pot with enough water and soak for about one hour to soften the rice.

2. Drain and gently scrub the pot with a sponge and mild dish soap.

If short on time:

1. Fill the pot with enough water and boil on [LOW] for about 10 minutes.

2. Drain and gently scrub the pot with a sponge and mild dish soap.

Note

  • Do not use abrasive cleaning agents and/or scrubbing pads (metal brushes, scouring pads, etc.) to clean the pot, as these may damage the enamel coating.

Preventing rice from sticking

To minimize sticking in the first place, follow the steps below immediately after cooking rice.

1. Using a wet spatula, fluff the rice by cutting it into quarters and folding each quarter towards the center. Lift the grains from the sides of the pot to minimize sticking.

2. If not serving immediately, transfer the rice to a freezer-safe container and freeze.
