Iron Casting

Iron Casting

The unprecedented thinness of our cast iron pans begins with casting. Molten iron heated to 2700ºF is carefully poured into sand molds. As the molten iron fills the cast, pouring speed is timed in five-tenths of a second to maintain rigorous control.

Enamel Coating

Enamel Coating

Applying the enamel coating requires baking the cast iron pans at 1500ºF. To keep a pan as thin as 1.5 mm from warping at such temperatures is exceptionally challenging, requiring total focus and technical skill.

Wood Carving

Wood Carving

For the Vermicular Frying Pan’s feel-good handle, our craftspeople carve each from a single piece of high-quality wood, which is then meticulously hand-polished for a sleek feel and comfortable fit in your hand.

Hand Assembling

Hand Assembling

One of the fullest visual and tactile expressions of our talented craftspeople's pride and commitment, each wood and aluminum handle is hand-assembled to fit seamlessly to the cast iron body of every Vermicular Frying Pan and Oven-Safe Skillet, respectively.
