Vermicular | Design | Precision Japanese Cookware

Japanese thoughtfulness meets modern innovation.

The Musui’s accuracy begins at casting.

At 2700°F, our proprietary mix of vermicular graphite iron and thirteen other metals are melted and poured into sand molds. After the molds are cooled and the pots released, the body and lid of the Musui are meticulously hand-machined until they fit at a .01 mm accuracy. This accuracy empowers ‘waterless cooking’—from which the Musui takes its name.

The final step in manufacturing, the Musui is evenly coated three times with enamel. This step has two important attributes that are unique to Vermicular—it helps distribute heat and cook ingredients from their core, while our proprietary glass coating helps ensure durability so the Musui can be passed down for generations to come. With the safety of our employees and you as our utmost concern, we never use any toxic materials, like cadmium, to coat our products with.

Heat Conduction - The Musui is able to distribute and retain heat remarkably well, allowing ingredients to sear beautifully while the bottom ring-shaped ribs ensure ingredients are not overcooked.

Radiant Heat - An evenly heated Musui–Kamado creates radiant heat, which the enamel coating uses to penetrate deep into ingredients—cooking them from the inside so their exterior beauty remains intact.

Steam Convection - Steam convection occurs within the Musui–Kamado when hot and cool molecules create a current that circulates heat. The Musui’s special airtight seal utilizes this to cook the food gently and evenly.

Exclusive to Vermicular, our Triple Thermal Heating empowers the natural flavor profile of ingredients to thrive and be amplified through a trifecta of innovative heating methods. It transforms a meal from something your palate expects into a dish you’ll eagerly anticipate cooking again.

The Musui’s lid is imbued with more purpose than impeccable sealing. It is built to be lighter in places, so when pressure from cooking builds within the pot, the lid gently floats allowing steam to vent out instead of boiling over.

Wait, there’s more. The Musui’s lid also helps self-baste ingredients in their own delectable juices. When steam rises and condenses during cooking, the lid’s double rings and soft spikes allow it to gently precipitate down, enveloping the dish in flavor. The ring-shaped ribs on the bottom of the Musui serve an important, dual purpose. They create an ideal distance between ingredients and stove, ensuring ingredients are not overheated. Plus, they guarantee that heat is evenly distributed, assuring each part of the ingredient is cooked, flawlessly.

Safe and secure handling is paramount to the Musui’s design. Double handles on each side of the pot allow you to hold the lid with both hands. It’s also designed ergonomically correct, allowing it to be cookware that is never cumbersome in the kitchen—making it easy to maneuver for everyday use.

With its powerful and precise heating technology, it far exceeds the performance of traditional electrical and gas stove tops, emboldening cooks in a whole new way.

Our exclusive Three-Dimensional Kamado Heating is delivered through surrounding sidewall heaters and high-performance induction coils located at the base. This heating innovation provides an even heat distribution throughout and safeguards your dishes against inconsistent cooking, much like a modern day kamado stove.

With the Kamado’s four different heat settings, you can achieve an array of masterfully crafted dishes. From steam-roasting to precision cooking without the hassle of vacuum sealing, you can cook impeccable rice, sear and roast a beautiful tenderloin, proof dough, make yogurt, or even craft your own miso.

The Kamado deliver masterful dishes through precise temperature control. With a simple touch, temperature can be adjusted and set in 1ºF increments between 90 to 200ºF. While the built-in sensor automatically monitors and optimizes temperature, alleviating you from having to stand watch—giving you ultimate peace of mind.

The foundation for Japanese cuisine, the Kamado’s Auto rice function cooks every grain of rice to your personal definition of perfection. Choose between the type of rice and a preferred finish, then leave Kamado to craft the full umami—the highest level of delight and flavor for all cuisines.

The Kamado is simple to master and even easier to care for. Its LED touchscreen easily communicates temperatures, cooking modes, and time left to cook. And, since the Kamado does not directly touch ingredients, a slightly dampened cloth is all it takes to keep the Kamado clean.

Every design detail in our products reflects one main goal: to simply and elegantly enhance your everyday. Our aesthetic reflects a clean design philosophy that strives to balance a wide variety of functions with a form rooted in the beauty of simplicity.
